Final Four Teams of ‘The Amazing Race Philippines Season 2’ Vie for the Grand Prize this Weekend

The Philippines’ biggest reality show, The Amazing Race Philippines Season 2, gets more intense as the last remaining four racers dash to the finish line this Sunday (December 7) after the PBA Games on TV5.

After 8 grueling legs which tested each team’s strength and determination to stay ahead of the game for the grand prize package of 2 house and lots from RCD Royale Homes, 2 KIA Sportage SUVs and PhP 2 million pesos from PLDT Home Telpad. The four-way battle for glory is set to begin as the Race moves to its last two legs en route for the Final Pit Stop.

With the Race taking them from Iloilo to Misamis Oriental and towards the Final Pit Stop, the final four teams – dating couple Matthew Edwards and Phoebe Walker, magkapatid Jet and Yna Cruz, chefs Elijah Estillore and Roch Hernandez, and Mr. Pogi bros Kelvin Engles and John Paul Duray – must give their best in order to have a shot in becoming this season’s victors. The remaining two legs promise viewers a lot of heart-stopping action and real-life drama as the last four teams face great ordeals testing their patience, strength of relationships, remaining stamina, and ultimately, their will to win.

The final four teams bested seven teams – mag-ama AJ and Jody Saliba (5th place), nerds Vincent Yu and Ed Manguan (6th place), sexy besties RR Enriquez and Jeck Maierhofer (7th place), blonde sisters Tina and Avy Wells (8th place), Juan Direction hunks Daniel Marsh and Charlie Sutcliffe (9th place), Pinay World Champs Luz McClitton and Gretchen Albaniel (10th place), and travel buddies Zarah Evangelista and Osang Dela Rosa.

With Kapatid prime hunk actor Derek Ramsay as host and race master, the 11 teams were brought to see the majestic sights of the Philippines as they crossed over some of the most cherished sites in the country. Kicking off the race in Baluarte de San Diego at Intramuros, Manila, the teams journeyed south of Metro to Cavite, Tagaytay & Batangas, to Central Luzon’s Pangasinan towards the Ilocos region up in the north, then headed down south to Cebu, Bohol, Iloilo, and finally to Misamis Oriental and Camiguin – in what could be the most life-changing race of their lives.

For the past eight weeks, the second season of The Amazing Race Philippines in TV5 gained notoriety for leaving viewers shocked as it reveals unexpected twists and unprecedented episodes week after week. These includes being marked by US-based website DryedMangoez.com as the season with “the most shocking and controversial pit stop exit in The Amazing Race history” after team Pinay World champs Luz and Chen’s sudden confrontation at Basilica de San Martin de Tours in Taal, Batangas. The episode revealed Luz and Chen ended their friendship after losing the Race and have not spoken to each other since. Other notable episodes also include Kelvin and JP’s shout-fest en route to MacArthur’s statue in Dagupan; dating couple Matt and Phoebe’s almost break-up at Kapurpuwan Rock Formation in Burgos, Ilocos Norte; race master Derek Ramsay’s unforeseen “reprimand” of sexy besties RR Enriquez and Jeck Maierhofer; and most recently, mag-ama AJ and Jody Saliba’s emotional episode at Panglao Island in Bohol.
