Son Ye-Jin Named 2020 Asian Drama Actress of the Year
South Korea’s Son Ye-Jin bested 4 other finalists from the region to win the online poll for Asian Drama Actress of the Year category of the Asian Drama Awards 2020.
In the week-long poll, Son Ye-Jin garnered a total of 125,018 votes from netizens, or 54.39% among the 5 finalists.
Son Ye-Jin is a veteran actress in South Korea whose films and TV series such as “A Moment to Remember,” “Something in the Rain,” and “Crash Landing on You” made her popular around the world. Her career spans 21 years and has won 50 acting awards out of 72 nominations. Earlier this year, she was hailed as the Most Beautiful Woman in the World 2020. In 2022, the Korean superstar will debut in Hollywood opposite Sam Worthington (“Avatar”) for the movie “The Cross.” Shooting for the said film is slated to begin this April.
Placing second in the poll is Kim Hee Ae who gave an intense performance in the Korean drama “The World of the Married.” She got 22.21% of the votes.

In 2018, India’s Jennifer Winget was named by netizens as the Asian Drama Actress of the Year for her performance in “Bepannaah.” In 2019, Thai actress Baifern Pimchanok emerged as winner of Asian Drama Actress of the Year for her performance in Thai adaptation of the Korean drama series “Secret Garden.”
