Veteran actor Gardo Versoza finally signed two contracts with Viva Artist Agency as revealed during his virtual press conference last October 21.

The TikTok sensation signed a talent management contract for VAA for Viva Entertainment and one contract for his YouTube/Digital projects. His wife Ivy Vicencio, arranged the actor’s transfer to Viva, serving as his business manager. It can be remembered that their wedding trended on social media last year. They’ve been together for 13 years and still going strong.

During the digital presscon, the “Machete” star expressed his gratefulness for the new wave that his career is experiencing now during the pandemic.

“Nakakataba ng puso. Masarap ‘yung feeling. Iba rin ‘yung bina-backup-an ka ng isang malaking kumpanya. Na-excite kami ni misis dahil lalawak ang playing field. May nila-line up na sila, may movies, series na gagawin din sa YouTube Channel,” he said.

We asked Gardo his favorite acting project from more than 100 movies that he did and as expected, his answer is “Machete.”

“Yun kasi ‘yung tumatak,” he said. “Machete” is a sexy fantasy drama about a masculine statue that comes to life. Versoza became a household name after portraying the iconic role in 1994. His co-stars in the film were Snooky Serna and Rosanna Roces.

“Machete” was adapted as a TV drama on television by GMA Network in 2011. It starred Aljur Abrenica.

We also asked Gardo if ever another remake of “Machete” will be produced for today’s generation, who among the local young actors he would want to see play the role. His answer is Daniel Padilla and he actually mentioned it to the young actor while they are filming the film-to-stream series “The House Arrest of Us.” Gardo plays Daniel’s dad in the said project.

As for the other roles that he is looking forward to doing now that he’s under Viva, Gardo said he likes to portray characters that are opposite to his personality like bad guy roles or beki roles.

Before his transfer, Gardo reportedly finished a film titled “Lockdown Girls” where he will star alongside comedians Ate Gay, Petite, and Iyah Mina. The comedy movie will be released soon.
