A Chef with No Hands on ‘I Survived’

A chef with no hands on “I Survived”

Baking is a craft usually done with two hands but for Chef Maricel, she can do it with none.

Maricel was only 11 years old when she and her uncle were attacked by men after a land dispute with a neighbor. She was stabbed 25 times in different parts of her body and her hands were chopped off.

Due to the trauma and the pain of the experience, Maricel lost her will to pursue her dream to become a singer.

Still, despite living with a permanent disability, she persevered and finished her study and is now a pastry chef in a high-end hotel in Makati.

Without hands to use to hold or create, how was she able to shape a bright future for herself? Catch Chef Maricel’s story this Thursday (August 26) on “I Survived” with Ces Oreña Drilon, right after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
