Zaijan Jaranilla is Gio Ilustre in ‘The Broken Marriage Vow’

Zaijian Jaranilla falls victim to the gradual breakdown of his parents’ tumultuous relationship in ABS-CBN’s upcoming drama series “The Broken Marriage Vow,” which premieres on January 22 on iWantTFC and January 24 on Kapamilya Channel, TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live, and TFC.

His character, Gio Ilustre, will highlight the emotional stress and trauma that children endure when their parents’ relationship turns dysfunctional due to infidelity.

The only son of Dra. Jill and David (Jodi Sta. Maria and Zanjoe Marudo), Gio is a smart and athletic teenager who loves his parents dearly and is the glue that keeps their family together. Gio is also an honor student who will do everything to make his parents proud.

“Gio Ilustre is a caring, responsible, and loving son. Dra. Jill’s life can get hectic at times but Gio is always there to calm her down. Gio is also very close to his dad and they’re very comfortable around one another,” Zaijian shares about his character.

When Gio discovers David’s secret affair with another woman, Lexy Lucero (Sue Ramirez), his world is turned upside down.

“His parents provide him with everything he needs until he discovers that his family is slowly breaking apart. You will see in his eyes that the happiness he once had will slowly disappear because of their family problems,” said Zaijian.

His character will be embroiled in Jill and David’s bitter conflict as they desperately battle for Gio’s favor. “I think those who come from a broken family will be able to say that they’ve gone through what Gio experiences in the series,” shared Zaijian.

“The Broken Marriage Vow” will be seen beginning January 22 on iWantTFC, two days before its TV broadcast, and on January 24 at 8:40 PM on Kapamilya Channel, TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel and Facebook page, and TFC.

The series, which is shot entirely in Baguio, also stars Jane Oineza, Angeli Bayani, Bianca Manalo, Ketchup Eusebio, Rachel Alejandro, Art Acuña, Empress Schuck, Joem Bascon, Brent Manalo, Malou Crisologo, Franco Laurel, Sandino Martin, Lao Rodriguez, Jet Gaitan, Jie Anne Armero, Migs Almendras, Avery Clyde, and JB Agustin, with the special participation of Susan Africa and Ronnie Lazaro.

Directed by Concepcion Macatuno and Andoy Ranay, the ABS-CBN series is the Philippine adaptation of the hit BBC series “Doctor Foster.”
