Zaijan Jaranilla Adds to Pinoy Power in ‘Almost Paradise’

Kapamilya teen star Zaijian Jaranilla joins the elite roster of Filipino guest actors in the American crime drama series “Almost Paradise.”

Zaijian is part of the episode that will air this Sunday, 8:45 pm (May 9) on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z, with streaming on iWantTFC and Kapamilya Online Live on Facebook and YouTube for viewers in the Philippines.

In the teaser released by the show on social media, the young star is seen alongside veteran actor Art Acuña, who plays Detective Ernesto Alamares in the program produced by Electric Entertainment and ABS-CBN.

In this episode, former secret agent Alex Walker (Christian Kane) will serve as a bodyguard to famous country singer August Crowe, who arrived in Cebu for a concert. From being a big fan, Alex begins to lose respect for his idol after seeing how he is like up close. However, a threat from a kidnapping ring targeting celebrities will strengthen their bond as they both try to stay alive.

August is played by international actor Billy Ray Gallion, who has appeared in shows like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Lost” and acted with Filipinos in films like “Quezon’s Game” and “Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 3.”

Down to its last three episodes, “Almost Paradise” has been a showcase of Filipino talent as it features an all-star Filipino cast led by Art, Nonie Buencamino, and Samantha Richelle while a local production crew also worked behind the scenes.

Adding to the Pinoy power in the eighth episode entitled “Lone Wolf” with Zaijian are award-winning actor Elijah Canlas, Lloyd Zaragoza, and Al Gatmaitan. The episode is also directed by Filipino filmmaker Irene Villamor, whose works include “On Vodka, Beers, and Regrets,” “Meet Me in St. Gallen,” and “Sid & Aya: Not A Love Story.”
