It’s Showtime Launches New Segment ‘Versus’

Show-stopping stunts, magic tricks, and surprising performances keep viewers tuned in to “Versus,” the newest segment of Kapamilya noontime program “It’s Showtime” where Filipinos who do or do not have an actual talent can entertain the madlang people and win prizes.

At the start of the week, three talented contestants draw lots to determine if they will showcase their talent on that day. The challenger for the day will then have a shot to choose from five mystery acts or “abangers” one that they will battle in a one-on-one showdown.

The “abangers” could either be “havey” or are telling the truth about their hidden talent or they could also be “waley,” meaning they are a fluke and only pretend to have the talent.

The hosts also join in on the fun by confusing the challenger and giving their guesses as to which “abanger” they think is “havey” and “waley.”

After showcasing their acts, the judges will decide which performance or talent impressed them more. Currently, Roxanne Guinoo-Yap and Jerrald Napoles appear regularly as judges of the segment, while Vhong Navarro and Kim Chiu alternately fill the third spot.

The winner will take home P10,000 and advance to the next round for the weekly finals where they have a chance to win P20,000, while the loser will automatically be eliminated from the competition but will still be rewarded with P5,000.

Viewers can also get a chance to win P5,000 by posting on Twitter or Facebook who they think will win the competition, along with the show’s official hashtag of the day.

Those who would like to showcase their skills in “Versus” may e-mail their audition video, name, address, and contact details to VersusShowtimePH@gmail.com. The segment is open to aspiring contestants who are 16 to 55 years old.

Watch “Versus” on “It’s Showtime” every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday on A2Z channel on digital and analog broadcast. Digital TV box users can scan and look for A2Z channel in Metro Manila and in some parts of Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal, Bataan, Batangas, Bulacan, and Pampanga.
