BTS’ Kim Taehyung Named Ultimate Asian Heartthrob of 2019
Korea’s very own Kim Taehyung, also known as V and member of the world’s biggest boyband BTS, emerged as the winner of our month-long online poll in search of 100 Asian Heartthrobs for the year 2019. This is his second year in a row to be named “Ultimate Asian Heartthrob.”
The K-pop star bested more than 100 nominated celebrities from the Asian continent which include TV series stars, K-pop artists, sports personalities, models, singers, and movie actors. He got a total of 4,632,409 nods in the fan-powered online polls on Twitter, Instagram, and the website Starmometer.com, consistently getting the votes from around the world from beginning to end.
V had a tough battle against fellow BTS member Jungkook who emerged as this year’s runner-up with a total of 2,966,443 votes making it a 1-2 finish for Korea. The BTS Maknae was voted “Sexiest Man in the World” in 2018 powered by his own legion of fans from around the world. Jungkook jumped from no. 31 in 2018 to no. 2 in our 2019 list of Top 100 heartthrobs in the region.
In third place this year is Thai pop star Peck Palitchoke who garnered a total of 2,045,722 votes. Peck topped our Instagram poll with 1,122,366 points, where more than half of his total votes came from. He is also the highest new entry this year, debuting in our annual list at no. 3.
Last year’s runner-up Suradet Piniwat of Thailand finished fourth this year with a total of 1,247,381 votes. The “2 Moons” star was head-to-head with fellow Thai finalist Peck in the social media polls.
Kim Seok-Jin is the third and last BTS member who entered the finals this year. He placed fifth overall with a total of 798,556 votes.
Kazakhstan’s very own Dimash Kudaibergen finished sixth in our list with 383,368 votes. He is the second highest new entry this year following Peck.
Rounding off the Top 10 are Indian actor Harshad Chopda (#7), GOT7 maknae BamBam from Thailand (#8), K-drama actor Ji Chang-Wook (#9) and Thai actor Nadech Kugimiya (#10).
The other finalists were Lee Thanat (Thailand), Seo In-Guk (Korea), Tay Tawan (Thailand), Newwiee (Thailand), Dylan Wang (China), Gun Atthaphan (Thailand), Grae Fernandez (Philippines), Aliando Syarief (Indonesia), James Jirayu (Thailand), and Aakash Shrestha (Nepal).
