‘My Puhunan’ Celebrates 5th Anniversary In Davao

Like the successful businesses it features week after week, ABS-CBN current affairs program “My Puhunan” remains solid and strong in providing tips and inspiration to aspiring Filipino entrepreneurs on its 5th year on television.

The show’s host, award-winning broadcast journalist Karen Davila, said Filipinos should not be afraid to get into business especially as today is a good time to start a new source of livelihood.

“Nowadays, because of social media, you can make a name, be popular, and do selling without any marketing expense. You can start earning even with a small capital,” she said.

After interviewing hundreds of successful Filipino entrepreneurs, Karen shared she noticed one thing they have in common.

“Hard work and perseverance are given already. What I noticed with the small entrepreneurs that became successful is that they are all hands-on in their business. They wake up very early, they do the inventory themselves, they man the store and sometimes serve as their own janitor. They do everything and know every nook and cranny of their business,” she explained.

A perfect example of this is the people behind the business she is featuring in the 5th anniversary special of “My Puhunan” on Tuesday (July 31) on ABS-CBN. The name Severino Belvis is an institution in Davao City when it comes to durian farming. He grew up poor and worked early to help his family but through his drive to have a better life, he was able to grow his business. Severino left his family with a booming livelihood that has expanded to durian products like jam and candy through “Rosario’s Delicacies,” which was named after his wife.

“My Puhunan” hopes to meet and inspire more Filipinos as it takes its Kabuhayan Caravan to different parts of the country from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to celebrate its 5th anniversary, starting in Davao. Meanwhile,  the program will continue to prove that anyone can attain success in business regardless of what they have or where they come from.

“On our fifth year, we want to find more Filipinos with unique stories that are not known to many yet and have businesses that are taking off. That’s because Filipinos want to be inspired. They want to get strength from these success stories. When they see fellow Filipinos that succeed with just a small capital, let’s say P500, they get inspired to do the same,” Karen said.
