The acclaimed CineFilipino rom-com movie “Ang Turkey Man Ay Pabo Rin” is now a TV series on TV5. Simply titled “Kano Luvs Pinay,” this exciting new offering by the Kapatid Network will tackle the intricacies of interracial and intercultural romance between an American who is assigned in Manila (played by Lee O’Brien, Pokwang’s current boyfriend) and a typical Filipina (Tuesday Vargas).

The premise of the story is the usual conclusion that we draw when we see a Pinay with an Afam (our slang for ‘foreigner’)–that the Pinay is always the one with financial struggles, then she meets the foreigner who has the money to spare–“isa na namang kababayan natin ang naligtas sa kahirapan!”

This often misunderstood relationship takes a humorous twist in “Kano Luvs Pinay,” proving that love conquers race, culture and language barrier. The sitcom mixes Filipino humor, kilig, and family values while it pokes fun in the stereotype and eventually crush the misconceptions.

But it’s not just about a Filipina loving an American show. Tuesday’s character as Cookie sired a child, Jon Jon, during her younger years, played by Chok Chok Venida. And there’s the can’t-live-with-Americans guy, played by Martin Escudero, who happens to be Cookie’s brother.

Also starring in “Kano Luvs Pinay” are veteran actors Boboy Garovillo and Ces Quesada as the overbearing parents of Cookie. Model turned actress Wilma Doesnt is Osang, the ever-afam-supportive best friend of Cookie, and theater actress Kiki Baento is Girlie, the other best friend who has a strictly no afams policy with regards her love life.

What are the hurdles and conflict that Cookie and Matthew’s cultural differences may bring about? Will their interracial love win in the end? May forever nga ba sa ganitong uri ng relasyon?

“Kano Luvs Pinay” will air every Saturday evening starting September 05, 2015 on TV5.
