23-year-old Tereaza Fajksova from Czech Republic has just won the 12th Miss Earth crown during the coronation night which was held at the Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Philippines, on Saturday, November 24, 2012.

Commentary: That was close. Good thing Miss Earth did not follow what Miss World and Miss International did this year–crowning the host delegate. In my personal opinion, Miss Philippines should have not been included even in the Top 8. Thailand and Turkey should have been there instead.

Tereaza is only the 2nd European beauty to win Miss Earth. The first was Catharina Svensson from Denmark in 2001, during the very first edition of the pageant.

Meanwhile, this is the second time the Philippines bagged the Miss Earth-Air (1st Runner Up) title. The first time was in 2009 courtesy of Sandra Seifert who happens to be one of the hosts in this year’s coronation night.

Aside from Seifert, tonight’s event was also hosted by hunk model Marc Nelson and showbiz reporter Ginger Cornejero.

Miss Earth 2012 was beamed live to a number of countries in Asia and the Middle East via Starworld. It will be aired on ABS-CBN on Sunday, November 25 at 10:15am.
