The classic animated series in the 80s--ThunderCats--is making a comeback on the small screen.

ThunderCats The Reboot is set to premiere with a one-hour special this Friday on the Cartoon Network.

The latest version of ThunderCats follows Lion-O as he leads the ThunderCats on a quest for the Book of Omens, the one artifact that could guide them to victory. But he’ll have to face villains like the ancient evil sorceror Mumm-Ra and the dangerous lizard general Slythe. Luckily, he has the Sword of Omens and its amazing powers at his disposal.

Executive produced by Sam Register, and produced by Ethan Spaulding and Michael Jelenic based on the original characters created in 1985 by Tobin “Ted” Wolf, ThunderCats premieres Friday at 8 p.m./7 p.m. Central on Cartoon Network in the US. The series is also slated to premiere on Cartoon Network Asia very soon!
