Today is International Ice Cream Day!

The International Ice Cream Association encourages ice cream lovers around the world to celebrate National Ice Cream Day, today, July 17, by enjoying everyone’s favorite treat. July, by the way, is National Ice Cream Month.

It was President Ronald Reagan who designated July in 1984 as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. He recognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed around 90 percent of Americans.

Since then, the day has been celebrated with ice cream related events, appropriate ceremonies and fun-filled activities for kids of all ages, young and old.
