Volunteers Thwart Maritime Disaster on ‘I Survived’

Can you swim four hours straight in the middle of the sea on a bad weather? A group of volunteers never thought they could but when their boat capsized in the middle of the sea April last year, they had no choice but to do so.

This Thursday (Mar 11) on “I Survived,” one of the survivors will finally speak up about the horrifying experience that almost claimed their lives.

Rowena Reyes, said their group was about to leave from an educational mission in Camiguin Norte when the weather turned bad, prompting them to delay their departure.

They left the following day after the boatman assured them that the coast guard had given its go-signal. However, a few hours after they left, huge waves started coming to their direction causing their boat to sink.

Using all their might, the volunteers swam to the surface and together they swam for shore for almost four hours amid 13 to 17 kilometers of towering waves.
