American Idol Judges Save Matt Giraud From Elimination

The "Judges Save" rule came into play on American Idol Top 7 results show when Matt Giraud received the lowest number of votes.

The bottom 3 tonight were Anoop Desai, Lil Rounds and Matt Giraud. Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen were all safe.

Ryan Seacrest announced that Anoop is the first to one to be safe leaving Matt and Lil in the bottom 2. After 36 million votes, Matt was supposed to be a goner but after he performed “for his life”, the judges decided to save him. In return, two contestants will be eliminated next week.

Simon Cowell’s final statement after announcing that Matt is safe: “Don’t be too quick to congratulate him because first, two will be eliminated next week. Second, next week is Disco week.”
