Anoop Desai Nails His Song Choice on American Idol
This week’s theme on American Idol is “Music from the Movies” as the remaining 7 finalists were mentored by famed director Quentin Tarantino.
As usual, Adam Lambert rocked the house with his energetic take of Steppenwolf’s Born to Be Wild. But it was Anoop Desai who made a moment with his rendition of Everything I Do, trumping frontrunner Danny Gokey who performed a heartfelt version of Endless Love. Jai Ho!
Allison Iraheta opened the show with her take on I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing by Aerosmith. Matt Giraud, on the other hand, sang Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman by Bryan Adams. Both versions were not pitch perfect with Matt getting the blows from the judges.
Kris Allen sang “Falling Slowly” from the movie Once. He was slammed by Randy Jackson but saved afterwards by Kara DioGuardi saying it was “the best performance” sort of.
Lil Rounds got Simon frustrated with her rendition of Bette Midler‘s “The Rose.” Simon said she’s not the artist that they saw in the beginning. Lil responded by explaining her song choice.

WARMING UP: Lil Rounds and Matt Giraud
Anoop almost got the boot last week and it’s no surprise if he hits bottom 3 again tomorrow. Lil Rounds, on the other hand, could get enough female votes at the expense of Matt Giraud who’s in danger of elimination. Possible bottom 3 are Anoop, Matt and Lil. But if the viewers liked Anoop’s performance tonight, Allison might be bottom 3 again.
