Bright Vachirawit Named 2020 Asian Drama Actor of the Year

Thailand’s Bright Vachirawit bested 9 other finalists from the region to win the online poll for Asian Drama Actor of the Year category of the Asian Drama Awards 2020.

In the week-long poll, Bright garnered a total of 536,924 votes from netizens, or 45.56% among the 10 finalists.

The charismatic actor catapulted to fame in early 2020 for starring in the Boys Love (BL) show “2gether the Series” which was produced by GMMTV. Due to its massive popularity in several Asian countries, the said series had a sequel called “Still 2gether” which aired from August to September. Bright is now slated to star in the Thai adaptation of the hit drama series “Meteor Garden” and he will play the lead role (Dao Ming Si).

Placing 2nd in the poll is South Korea’s Hyun Bin of “Crash Landing on You” who got a total of 288,755 votes. He is followed in third place by Taiwan’s Jerry Yan, the leading man in “Count Your Lucky Stars.”

In 2018, China’s Dylan Wang was named by netizens as the Asian Drama Actor of the Year for his performance in the Chinese version of “Meteor Garden.” In 2019, Xiao Zhan, also from China, emerged as winner of Asian Drama Actor of the Year for his performance in “The Untamed” which also won 2019’s Asian Drama of the Year.
