The World of the Married ended with a bang!
The drama series which currently holds the distinction as the highest-rated Korean drama in South Korea’s cable TV history, broke its own record for the second time and hit the series’ all-time high nationwide rating of 28.64% on Saturday, May 16, 2020. This is an impressive leap from the 24.33% rating received by its second-to-the-last episode which aired last Friday night. And this is despite the fact that the last two episodes were classified R-19 and has a late-night timeslot.
The World of the Married bagged 4 nominations in the upcoming 2020 Baeksang Arts Awards: Best Director for Mo Wan-il, Best Actress TV performance of Kim Hee-Ae, Best Supporting Actor TV performance for Kim Young-Min, and Best New Actress (TV) for Han So-Hee. It was snubbed in the Best Drama category because, according to reports, remakes are not qualified for the top award. The World of the Married is a South Korean adaptation of the British drama “Doctor Foster.”
If The World of the Married hit its all-time high rating, The King: Eternal Monarch has a different story. The Lee Min-Ho starrer started off strong with 10.1% nationwide rating last April 17 but every week, its ratings are declining. The latest episode which aired Friday night garnered a nationwide rating of 5.8%, its lowest so far.
