Lyca Gairanod’s Acting Debut in ‘MMK’ (Video)
Fresh from winning “The Voice Kids Philippines” a couple of weeks ago, Lyca immediately underwent an acting workshop under the supervision of “MMK” director Nuel Naval and veteran actress Malou de Guzman for last night’s episode of the longest-running drama anthology.
Lyca portrayed herself in the said episode which is about her life story as a daughter of a fisherman who also sometimes help her mother scavenge for junk to sell.

Voice Kids’ champion’s acting debut tops worldwide trends
MANILA – The “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MMK) episode featuring the story of Lyca Gairanod proved to be a ratings juggernaut last Saturday, beating even the finale of the talent search that launched her to stardom.
The 9-year-old “The Voice Kids” champion played herself in the TV retelling of her story as a scavenger in Tanza, Cavite. She co-starred with screen veterans Malou de Guzman and Ronnie Lazaro in her acting debut.
The highly anticipated episode registered a nationwide rating of 38.4%, “Maalaala Mo Kaya” said on its official Facebook page on Monday. Its competing program last August 16, on the other hand, only garnered 12.8%.
Producer ABS-CBN subscribes to ratings data provided by Kantar Media, which uses a panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes to represent 100% of the Philippines TV viewing population.
