US Ambassador to the Philippines Philip S. Goldberg recently visited the TV5 Media Center in Reliance to be the special guest of Radyo5’s morning news program “Punto Asintado”, taking the opportunity to touch base with the Philippine media—where Radyo5 had the privilege to be included—and also to shed some light on various pressing issues.

Listeners and viewers of the program’s special episode were treated to a rare opportunity of getting to know the US Ambassador even more, as he gamely showed his personal side and shared what his life in the Philippines has been like since he took office last November 2013. The light but trivial discussions also included the Ambassador’s most notable moments while working with various Filipinos and his all-time favorite Filipino dishes, among others.

On top of this and true to the radio program’s nature of delivering intelligible opinions, veteran Radyo5 Anchors Martin Andanar (left) and Erwin Tulfo (right) then led the in-depth discussions with the US Ambassador who warmly accommodated several phone-in and SMS-sent questions from the program’s listeners.

Critical issues like the controversial EDCA Agreement, the widely-questioned mutually-beneficial relationship between the US and the Philippines, the much talked about territorial disputes with China, and the current status of the immigration processing in the country, were among the key topics that the US Ambassador took time to clarify and shed light on.
