Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 Crashes in Ukraine
Flight MH17 was carrying 280 passengers and 15 crew members when it lost contact from Malaysia Airlines headquarters in Amsterdam where it took off and that the plane’s last known position was over Ukrainian airspace. The official twitter account of Malaysia Airlines posted the following:
Malaysia Airlines has lost contact of MH17 from Amsterdam. The last known position was over Ukrainian airspace. More details to follow.

According to reports, MH17 was shot down by a ground-to-air missile. An adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister posted on Facebook that an antiaircraft missile system shot down MH17 over the village of Torez, about “25 miles east of the city of Donetsk and within territory held by pro-Russian separatist rebels.”
Malaysia Airlines is expected to release an official statement regarding this incident in a few minutes.
