‘Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy’ Beats ‘My Little Bossings’ on MMFF Day 12
According to MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino, the 8 official entries of the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) have raked a total of P934 million in a span of 12 days. That’s almost P1 billion in less than 2 weeks, a new record set by the annual event.
It’s interesting to note that “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy” surpassed “My Little Bossings” in terms of ticket sales last Sunday, January 5 according to the MMDA Chairman. The MMFF Best Picture “10,000 Hours” also had a breakthrough as it reportedly bested Eugene Domingo’s “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel” for fourth place.
Tolentino, via an interview by ABS-CBNNews.com, clarified that the comedy film “My Little Bossings” starring Vic Sotto, Ryzza Mae Dizon and James “Bimby” Jap Jr. is still the over-all top-grosser to date.
“For that single day lang, ‘yung kahapon lamang, ‘yung ‘Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy’ for single day lang ‘yung kahapon [Sunday]. Pero leading pa rin sa overall ang ‘My Little Bossings,'” he said.
Last January 3, “My Little Bossings” and “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy” joined the elite roster of Pinoy films that surpassed the elusive P300-million mark at the box office. Only 5 Filipino films have achieved this feat in history, the other three were “Sisterakas,” “Praybeyt Benjamin” and “It Takes a Man and a Woman.”
