ANC Launches New Afternoon Lineup and Niche Talk Shows

Filipinos here and abroad can now get their daily, comprehensive dose of news and information with the launch of ANC’s new afternoon programs and niche primetime talk shows after the country’s most trusted cable news channel carried live, uninterrupted coverage of the Chief Justice impeachment trial.

Beginning Monday (June 11), ANC’s new afternoon programming slate will start with the daily 30-minute newscasts “News Now,” which will be shown at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Ron Cruz, anchor of the news and talk program “Mornings@ANC,” will kickstart the newscast at 2 p.m. by presenting major national, business, and foreign news. “Most of the stories develop in the afternoon. The challenge is to break the news first. Expect us to give you the news as soon as they happen,” he said

ANC business news head Coco Alcuaz takes over “News Now” at 3 p.m. to give the rundown on major news developments, business stories, updates on Asian markets, and live interviews from the Philippine Stock Exchange. He said, “While your business day is hopefully winding down, we are going to be starting up. We are going to bridge the gap between morning news and business nightly.”

Also delivering updates from the PSE trading floor is Warren de Guzman, who says “(I) will only give credible information to help viewers make the right investment choices.”

To better serve Filipinos worldwide, ANC will also cater to Filipinos abroad by delivering the biggest national and regional stories in the country, reports from ABS-CBN bureaus around the world in “The Bureau,” to be anchored by Karmina Constantino.

“’The Bureau’ is about the news that makes the world go round. But we don’t stop there. We’re going to tell you how it impacts and affects the global Filipino,” said Karmina, who previously anchored a daily newscast and a magazine show for The Filipino Channel – North America and knows just how overseas Filipinos think and what they need.

Completing the cast for “News Now” is ANC weather presenter and “Hardball” anchor Boyet Sison, who will present hourly weather updates and forecasts, while Lexi Schulze will be giving the latest buzz and trends from the social media realm.

To keep viewers abreast of the latest social media buzz, ANC will also launch a first-of-its-kind social media news program, “@ANCalerts” to air weekdays at 4:30 p.m. and anchored by social media enthusiast TJ Manotoc and Lexi Schulze.

The show, which started as ANC’s influential Twitter account that now has over 450,000 followers, will present the hottest social media buzz, user-generated content, “Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo” stories, and real time feedback from ANC viewers.

Meanwhile, ANC will beef up its Wednesday primetime offering with premium back-to-back niche talk shows on business and science and technology. “Inside Business,” which will be anchored by Coco Alcuaz, will present insightful and significant business news discussions and dissect headline-hitting business developments airing on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

“Primetime on ANC” and “Top Story” anchor Tony Velasquez will also launch a revitalized “Future Perfect” as a 30-minute science and technology show with features on the latest inventions, gadgets, and technological advances, and one-on-one interviews with Filipino inventors and science geniuses. The program will air at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Entertainment reporter Phoemela Baranda, on the other hand, will put the sexy back in the city as the new host of “Cityscape,” ANC’s guide to the hippest food establishments, fashion trends, weekend getaways, and hottest events in and out of the metro. It airs on Fridays at 9:30 p.m.

Stay tuned to the country’s first and only 24/7 news channel for breaking news and relevant information. Watch “News Now” and “The Bureau” on ANC (SkyCable Channel 27) on weekday afternoons, “Inside Business” at 7 p.m. and “Future Perfect” at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, and “Cityscape” at 9:30 p.m. on Fridays.

  1.  Tama. GMATV – libreng-libre, pangmasa. ANC – kelangang mag subscribe sa cable, pang upper class.

  2.  Over ka naman. Free ang gmaTV, pang masa masyado. Pang cable ang ANC, sa mga can-afford lang, at upperclass.
