ABS-CBN News Releases App for Android and iOS Devices

Reliable news and useful information is now just the touch of a finger away.

People here and across the globe may access news and other contents of with just one click as ABS-CBN News releases its application for Android and iOS mobile devices.

Once installed, the mobile app automatically downloads news directly to the user’s device either via wi-fi or mobile Internet browsing connections.

Users may also volunteer to be citizen journalists by sending in their reports through the Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo ticker where they can type in their reports in a user-friendly interface that will be sent directly to the BMPM for verification and follow-up.

This allows citizens to move closer to news-gathering and -telling as the once-complex task of reporting significant news or happening of note in one’s community was made easier via the app’s built-in BMPM reporting mechanism.

With the app’s customizable feature, users also have the power to choose which particular section — Latest Stories, Nation, Sports, Recommended, Entertainment, Global Filipino, Metro, Business, and Lifestyle— they want to subscribe to.

The app also features a breaking news ticker, and a Philippine Peso-US Dollar exchange rate that may be clicked to show the peso’s value against other currencies.

The application is compatible with all devices running on Android and iOS operating systems. It is being introduced for the first time for various mobile touch screen devices like Acer, Dell, HTC, LG, Motorola, Nexus, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson that run on Android. As for the iOS, the app is an iteration of the one introduced early 2011 for the the iPhone and iPad.

ABS-CBN’s move to expand its mobile news offering to the iOS and Android operating systems, which are the fastest growing in the country in terms of usage, is yet another effort from the network to be in the service of the Filipino anywhere in the world, and across all possible platforms.
