"Ang Babae sa Septic Tank" is the third comedy film to be chosen as the Philippines' official entry to the Foreign Language Film category of Oscars.

The first comedy movie that became the country’s official entry to the Oscars since 2000 was Mark Meily‘s “The Crying Ladies” last 2004 which starred the Megastar Sharon Cuneta. The second was Soxy Topacio‘s “Ded Na Si Lolo” last 2009, which starred Roderick Paulate, Gina Alajar and Elizabeth Oropesa.

The Eugene Domingo-starrer bested “Zombadings,” which also a comedy, and was chosen by the Film Academy of the Philippines as the country’s official entry to the Oscars. “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” is now the third comedy movie to become an Oscar entry of the Philippines.

Do you think a comedy movie has an equal chance to get an Oscar Best Foreign Language Film nomination as drama?
