Typhoon Kabayan (Muifa) maintained its strength as it moves north-northwest, away from the Philippines and towards the southern islands of Japan, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) said Monday.

The state weather bureau also said that Kabayan and Tropical Depression Lando continued to enhance the southwest monsoon that has brought rain to parts of Luzon and the Visayas. Although it will not directly affect any part of the country, it continues to bring rains along with Lando.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said a potential cyclone, to be codenamed “Mina” once it enters Philippine Area of Resposibility (PAR), continues to form outside the country.
