Philippine Azkals Prevail Against Sri Lankan Brave Reds

The Philippine National Football Team, otherwise known as the Azkals, demolished their Sri Lankan opponents in home turf, 4-0.

The Philippine Azkals scored 4-0 against their opponent, Sri Lankan Brave Reds, before a crowd of 12,000 at the Rizal Memorial Football Field in Manila on Sunday.

Hitting the country’s goals during this first round of World Cup Qualifying second leg match are Emilio “Chieffy” Caligdong, Filipino-Spanish Angel Guirado and Filipino-British Phil Younghusband.

The Azkals got an aggregate score of 5-1 in both legs giving the Philippines a slot in the second round of the 2014 World Cup Qualifying. They will battle Kuwait in two legs on July 23 and July 28.

The Kuwait Football Team ranks 101st in the world while the Philippine Azkals is currently at no. 156.
