Rey ‘Boom Boom’ Bautista Wins by TKO Over Heriberto Ruiz of Mexico
Charismatic Filipino featherweight fighter Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista finally gets retribution after defeating Mexican Heriberto Ruiz in the seventh-round of the featherweight bout via Technical Knock Out (TKO) late Saturday night at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu.
A gruesome cut on Bautista’s scalp which he got during the sixth round via a head butt with Ruiz caused the stoppage of the fight at the 0:56 mark of the seventh round.
Since the cut was caused by a butt, the fight was ruled a technical decision victory for Bautista, because he led on all three scorecards earlier in the bout.
The scores are 69-65, 68-65 and 68-65 in favor of Bautista.
