Mikael Daez, Sid Lucero & Marian Rivera are Getting Intrigues in Time for the Premiere of ‘Amaya’?
The lead stars of the upcoming epicserye “Amaya”–Mikael Daez, Sid Lucero and Marian Rivera–are in various showbiz headlines, left and right, lately.
Two weeks ago, Sid Lucero was being accused of physical assault by an employee of a hardware store. The hardware salesman, who was identified as “Jun,” accused Sid of attacking him and a female staff last May 8. Lucero’s lawyers said that the details circulating about the incident “are not accurate,” and that they would rather not issue any comment until proper charges are filed against their celebrity client.
Also last week, Marian Rivera was being intrigued for hitting Manny Pacquio on the head on national television (CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO). The “batukan” incident happened during the victory party for Pacman in Party Pilipinas last May 15. Some columnists criticized Rivera’s action as uneducated because her “Show Me Da Manny” co-star is a Philippine pride and a congressman as well.
Lastly, newcomer Mikael Daez was being implicated last month for having a sex scandal video. But today, in time for the “Amaya” press conference, a nude photo scandal of the Kapuso hunk came out. Mike Lim of FashionPulis.com blogged a photo of a naked guy, who has an uncanny resemblance to Mikael Daez, holding a video camera on his left hand and holding his private part on his right hand (CLICK HERE TO SEE THE PHOTO). The entertainment press was supposed to ask Mikael regarding the photo during the grabd presscon of Amaya yesterday but he and co-star Sid Lucero left the event early.
So what do you think? Coincidence or publicity stunt?

She is given the best food, not allowed to work and she is carried in a hammock when she is moved from one place to another. She is only allowed to go out in veiled attire during the night prior to crop planting and cultivation to dance and chant for a good harvest. Binukots are healthwise frail and weak because of the lack of physical activity, a condition similar to having muscular atrophy. A certain Binukot claimed that her feet bled when she tried to walk for the first time and even with complete adaptation to physical activity, Binukot women cannot attain full muscular strenght and agility. These women also command a good dowry price for men interested to marry them and most importantly, the SULODNON / PANAY BUKIDNON CULTURE and BINUKOT TRADITION is only found in the mountains of WESTERN VISAYAS.
AMAYA played by Marian Rivera portrays a Binukot but she is ironically a warrior princess fighting off with men and other nemesis in the TV production in broad daylight. The setting of Amaya is situated in pre-colonial Central Visayas which is far from reality since Binukots are women of WESTERN VISAYAS. GMA7 claimed to have conducted a research with UP-Diliman historians regarding Amaya’s plot but the question is: why is there such a big deviation from the original BINUKOT TRADITION of the SULODNONs / PANAY BUKIDNONs?
The producers of AMAYA should set things straight and clarify issues once and for all. They should classify what kind of a TV production Amaya is: a fiction, a culture and history-based series, etc. If indeed Amaya is fiction then it should not in any way use any of the cultural traditions of the indigenous people because culture and history should never be played nor experimented with. If Amaya on the other hand is historically and culturally-based then it should stick to the facts of culture and history.
Amaya should be one of the two and not a combination of the two…. for history and culture will never be a part of any fictional story.The characters maybe fictional thats acceptable but the details of culture and history should always be exact and specific. For if not, then we are only mocking our own culture and history as a Filipino.
Lastly, I would like to clarify that the issue on the wrong portrayal of a Binukot woman in GMA7s AMAYA is just a minor issue because the Binukot’s evolution in becoming a slave and a warrior can very well be justified with the show’s storyline and script although it is very far from reality. The bigger issue here is that GMA7 did not give credit (in its press releases) to the source or inspiration of the Binukot concept. GMA should made it clear that the BINUKOT tradition was taken from the highlands of Capiz (Tapaz) and Iloilo (Maasin, Janiuay, Lambunao and Calinog) and not somewhere else.

Of course they have to make publicity for this new teleserye because its not gaining any interest from the viewing public. Mikael had a scandal, so what’s new. The good actor, Sid Lucero also joining this publicity stunt. He doesn’t need to. If this teleserye is really good the people will watch it. They don’t have to boast that this is GMA’s most expensive teleserye to date, who cares? As long as it is a quality teleserye, people will watch it.

inumpisahan ng di maganda, ang story hinango raw sa history, kaso manipulated naman na history and culture, paano nag naging lady warrior4 ang “binukot” mula sa panay, di yan mula sa cebu na ginawa gawa lng ng GMa, nakakahiya, sabi authentic historical epic, di naman pala, sana sinabi na nila na fiction, bakit manlinlang pa sila ng viewers sa pagsabi ng part ng history, kung taga kamuning nyo na binibigyan nyo ng mga sardinas, bigas, t-shirts at iba pa, pwede yon, di nyo maloko ang mga marurunong na viewers, pwe!
