‘My Valentine Girls’ Hits P135M in Just 3 Days?
According to a report by Ric Camaligan of the National Cinema Association of the Philippines via PEP’s Scoopbox, “My Valentine Girls” registered an ALL-TIME BIGGEST 3 DAY GROSS for a local or even a Hollywood film shown in the country. The Richard Gutierrez-starrer reportedly raked in an estimate of P135 million in just 3 days!
Straight from the horse’s mouth:
“It has been a record-breaking 2011 start for GMA Films and Regal Entertainment. My Valentinte Girls’s total gross for the 1st 3 days reached an all-time high of P135 million – the biggest 3 day gross for a Tagalog/Foreign film, breaking all box office records.”
Mother Lily Monteverde of Regal Films said:
“Napakahirap na ng buhay ngayon, kaya for a movie to make over P135 million in 3 days is a miracle. Divine intervention ito.”
P135 million in just 3 days is indeed a miracle, not to mention that it’s not Valentine’s Day yet. And it’s not even weekend yet which means by 1 week we can expect the movie to reach the elusive P200 million mark.
That is, if the report is accurate.
Based from our compilation of box office reports using the figures from third party tabulator, Box Office Mojo, the only Pinoy movie to surpass the P200 million mark (since the tally came to existence) was “You Changed My Life” starring John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo. I myself was a witness of how long the lines were at that time.
Last Friday night, I watched 127 Hours in Glorietta. The 7 cinemas have 7 different movies being screened (just one for My Valentine Girls) unlike in the time when “You Changed My Life” was screening and the same mall opted to use 3 of its theaters to run the Sarah-John Lloyd movie to accommodate the demand of moviegoers. Last Friday, I have not seen any line at all!
But of course, that’s just one cinema over more than a hundred across the country so I can’t base my judgment by that alone. Perhaps the film received long lines of moviegoers in other cinemas that I am not aware of.

I’m not a kapamilya nor kapuso but this movie is impossible to gross 135 million on its first three days. I already watched that movie yesterday at Trinoma and sad to say,only a half of people filled the cinema. I watched YOU CHANGE MY LIFE LAST 2009 and i will never forget what i experienced on that movie, because it took me 1 1/2 hours waiting before finally going inside the theater….Take note, I watched it on the same theater like my valentine girls..AND I HEARD THAT THE THREE CINEMAS WHERE YOU CHANGED MY LIFE WAS SHOWN ARE ALL FILLED WITH MANY PEOPLE AND SOME ARE EVEN STANDING TO WATCHING THAT MOVIE…I always watch valentine filipino movies every year and for me LET THE LOVE BEGIN, THE PROMISE AND MY BFGF ARE ONLY VALENTINE FILMS OF RICHARD THAT I BELIEVE ARE ALL BOX OFFICE HITS…MY VALENTINE GIRLS didn’t even rang a bell to the moviegoers to watch it..

the fact is hindi totoo ang 135 kinita for 3 days of showing. the fact is press release lang ito na walang katotohanan. nadaig pa yata ang kita ng manila film festival movies. pakonsuelo lang ito para sa mga producers na luging lugi na!

i don’t think it hit that mark. here in iligan, it has not been shown. nowhere to be found. i would say that it is just publicity. maybe persons behind those are really desperate. and to think of it, it is alongside with other foreign movies. what are they thinking about us Filipinos? without sense? o common..

@welma tama ka jan weekends palang aarangkada yung manonood. baka sa monday na ipakita yung video nang dimumog ang movie kasi di nila nakunan ng video nung nakaraang mga araw kasi wala naman kukunan na video na dinumog ang movie.. advance lang siguro yung news nila eh ngayon sunday palang nila kukunan ng video tapos ipapakita na sa news na dimumog nga yug movie..
