Brillante Mendoza‘s “Lola” bagged the Best Film award, the highest honor at the 29th Fajr Film Festival in Iran last February 8. The film’s lead stars Anita Linda and Rustica Carpio share the honor for Best Actress.
“Lola” previously won Best Film at the 8th Asian Film Festival in Rome and bagged the Jury Prize at the 27th Miami International Film Festival in the US. Its lead star Anita Linda, on the other hand, bagged the Best Actress trophy at the 54th Asia-Pacific Film Festival (APFF) in Taipei.
Question: If “Lola” is the Philippines’ most recognized movie as of the moment, why didn’t we pick this film as the country’s official entry to the Oscars?
