Abner Mercado Looks Into Campaign Spending of Presidentiables

Abner Mercado will check on the campaign spending of presidential candidates two months before the national elections this Tuesday (Mar 2) on “The Correspondents.”

Join him as he investigates the expenses of the presidentiables – from their radio and TV ads, posters, giveaways, to their transportation, manpower, and food.

Based on the study of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, several presidentiables have already spent millions and even billions for their campaigns, apparently over the limit of the Commission on Elections of P10 per voter, or P500 million for 50 million voters.

Sen. Manny Villar reportedly spent P2 billion in infomercials alone. Meanwhile, Gilbert Teodoro and Sen. Noynoy Aquino used up P407 million and P268 million, respectively, even before the official campaign period began.

Catch the whole report on “The Correspondents” with Abner Mercado this Tuesday (Mar 2), after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
