16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, Live and Exclusive on Velvet

Catch the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards live and exclusive on Velvet on January 24 (Sunday) at 9am, with a primetime encore telecast at 9pm. Produced by award-winning producer/director Jeff Margolis with the SAG Awards Committee, the SAG Awards brings together Hollywood’s top professionals to create a show that celebrates excellence in acting. And it is unique because it is the only award-giving body in which actors vote solely for actors.

The awards focus on the entire ensemble of a drama and comedy series, individual performances, and the cast of a motion picture. In previous years, the SAG Awards has acknowledged stunt performers, background singers and performers, dancers, animation voice-over performers and regional, commercial, character and child actors.

More than a decade since its conception, the Screen Actors Guild Awards continues to celebrate the brightest and the best of the stars for a night of pride and prized honor.

Another highlight of the night includes the Life Achievement Award, presented to an established performer for fostering the highest ideals of the acting profession and tributes to the varied talents within the Guild’s membership.

Nominees for 2009 include outstanding performances in five film and eight primetime television categories. Included in the nominees for Outstanding Performances by a cast in a motion picture are the films An Education, The Hurt Locker, Inglorious Basterds, Nine and Precious, while nominees for Outstanding Performance by an ensemble in a Drama Series are The Closer, Dexter, Man Men, True Blood and The Good Wife.

Witness one of the most esteemed awards night on Velvet! The SAG Awards, live and exclusive on January 24 (Sunday) at 9am, with a primetime encore telecast at 9pm. Weekend encore telecasts of the SAG Awards are on Jan. 30 at 10pm, and Jan. 31 at 4pm.
