Stephen Gately, member of the popular Irish band Boyzone in the 90's, died on Saturday while on holiday in Majorca off the coast of Spain.

The news started from the boyband’s official website confirming Gately’s death: “Stephen tragically died whilst on holiday in Majorca yesterday.”

The four remaining Boyzone members, including lead singer Ronan Keating, were shocked following the news of the death. They will all fly out to the island today.

Stephen’s coming out as a gay man caused a sensation in the entertainment world ten years ago. He leaves a husband Andrew Cowles, who he married in a civil union in March, 2006.
