Famas Best Picture Winners – 1952 to 2008

The FAMAS Awards, are the awards given by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS), an award-giving body for Philippine cinema composed of Palanca Award-winning writers and movie columnists and writers, since 1952. It is widely conceived as the Filipino equivalent of the American Academy Awards. Check out the list of Best Picture winners from 1952 to 2008.

In 1989, FAMAS honored 3 Best Picture awards for 3 categories – drama, action and comedy. In 2006, they revived the Maria Clara awards, the forerunner of the FAMAS awards which was first handed out in 1950 and 1951. A separate Best Picture was given for the Maria Clara Awards in 2006 but it was discontinued in 2007.
