Just when you thought that the Philippines has the most number of Award-giving bodies for film in the world, we have another one. After Famas, Luna, Enpress, Gawad Urian, Star now we have Maria Clara Awards — the breakaway group from Famas following a protracted court battle with former colleagues.

The 2006 Maria Clara Awards was held on Oct. 13 at the Golden Fortune Seafood Restaurant in Ermita, Manila, according to its president Tiu.

The major winners are Blue Moon, Aga Muhlach, Claudine Baretto, Joel Lamangan, John Lloyd Cruz, Hilda Koronel and BJ Forbes.

None of the major winners were present at the awards ceremony last Friday.
