TV5’s Unique Musical Series ‘Trenderas’ to Feature 3 Up-and-Coming Stars

All set to take the spotlight every Saturday night are three fresh faces who are definitely raring to showcase to the world their exceptional vocal prowess in TV5’s one-of-a-kind musical-drama-comedy series, “Trenderas”, premiering on September 13 at 9:00PM only on TV5.

Top-billing the Kapatid Network’s newest weekly primetime offering are the talented trio of Isabelle de Leon, Katrina Velarde and Lara Maigue—who play the role of three best friends who make ends meet by selling trinkets on the street. Their shared passion for music and their ultimate dream of one day becoming professional singers are what keep them strong despite their daily struggles in life. “Trenderas” will chronicle their exciting journey to their ultimate goal as they transform from seemingly ordinary ‘tinderas’ to the country’s newest trending sensations.

In real life, while collectively this is indeed their biggest break in showbiz yet, Isabelle, Katrina and Lara have all actually made a name for themselves in the local music industry already.

Isabelle de Leon is a multi-awarded child actress who has played notable roles in various movies and television shows, most notably as the daughter of Vic Sotto in a sitcom before. As a talented singer and composer, she also released her debut album “LoveZone” early last year.

Lara Maigue’s original composition, “Sa’Yo Nalang AKo”, was a Top 5 finalist during the Philpop 2013 competition. The same song was also personally chosen by the Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid to be included in the singer’s latest album. In addition, it was likewise chosen as the official theme song of TV5’s drama primetime series “For Love or Money”.

Katrina Velarde rose to fame when she decided to upload a YouTube video of herself singing in front of a mirror using a hairbrush as the microphone—thus, earning her the nickname “Suklay Diva”. She was also part of two girl groups, the first of which was the “Newborn Divas”, hailed as the 11th Talentadong Pinoy Hall of Famer who also competed in the show’s grand finale. The second group was called “AKA Jam”, which was one of the front-runners in another televised singing competition. The same group was chosen by Gary Valenciano to be the opening act of his 30th Anniversary Concert.

Also joining the cast of “Trenderas” are veteran singer-actors Dingdong Avanzado, Tina Paner and Ara Mina, together with Carl Guevara and Edward Mendez. Meanwhile, sassy comediennes K Brosas, Cacai Bautista and Kitkat will collectively play the role of the “Tres Malditas”—the three main villains who will do anything they can just to take the spotlight and success away from the “Trenderas”.

Ultimately, aside from being a heart-warming story of friendship and family with special musical segments of OPM covers and hits that Filipinos love, “Trenderas” will also captivate the audience with its uniquely aspirational theme that reminds everyone to not be afraid to dream, because one day that dream will eventually come true.
