Maki Hits 100 Million Streams on Spotify
Breakthrough artist Maki achieves a new milestone with his discography earning a combined total of 100 million streams on Spotify.
The new feat comes after the successful release of his debut EP “Tanong” which features the viral tracks “Kailan?” and “Saan?” with the latter peaking at no.14 on Billboard Philippines Songs Chart.
“I can still vividly remember ‘yung time na nagjo-joke around kami with the team noong first time ko magka-1 million. Sabi ko agad sa kanila ‘oh next time 100 million na yan.’ Tapos parang tumatawa-tawa pa kami noon as if parang ‘di siya mangyayari agad. Talagang ‘di namin ine-expect,” Maki said. “Never ko din talaga ‘to makakamit without the help of the team, my family and friends, and the people who support me araw-araw—yung mga zushis ko.”
The “Saan?” hitmaker was also included in Spotify’s RADAR Philippines that recognized 10 of the country’s emerging artists. With his numerous achievements, Maki sees his success as motivation to move forward despite feeling discouraged at times and continue to showcase his authenticity in his music.
“Para sa akin, tinitingnan ko yung numbers as validation sa sarili ko whenever I feel discouraged. May times na nagdo-doubt kami sa sarili naming capabilities—sa sarili naming talent. But at the end of the day, ‘pag nakikita ko ‘yung numbers na ‘to, nagkakaroon ako ng realization and reminder na ‘nagawa ko din ‘to once in my life.’ I always go back to my roots and my core na gusto ko rin talaga yung music na gusto kong ilabas,” Maki shared. The Kapamilya singer-songwriter dropped his latest single “HBD” last January under Tarsier Records which has now earned over a million streams on Spotify. He also recently collaborated with Angela Ken and Nameless Kids lead vocalist Nhiko Sabiniano for the song “Sikulo.” Maki is also preparing for future events to celebrate his new milestone with his fans.
