Last Minute Pamasko Ideas for Your Inaanaks with PayMaya!

When I was a kid, I look forward to Christmas day because that’s the time of the year when I receive gifts and “pamasko” from my Ninongs and Ninangs. Me and my cousins have a tradition, that we visit all our Godparents on Christmas morning at their homes to “collect” our gifts from them (well, around 90% give money instead of gifts) and then spend it at the “Boom na Boom” carnival (that’s the theme park at the CCP grounds during Christmas season) in the afternoon until midnight. Those were the days.

Now it’s my turn to become Ninong to more than 50 of my inaanaks. Usually, they visit me on Christmas day and I give them “brand new” money bills which I ordered from my bank. However, our holiday traditions as Filipinos are also affected by the Pandemic. But we are known to be resilient so we are making some adjustments and celebrate a different kind of Christmas—the new normal way. Tuloy na tuloy pa rin ang Pasko!

Let me share with you my plan on how I’m going to distribute “aguinaldos” to my 50+ inaanaks without breaking a sweat, at the same time observing social distancing, with the help of PayMaya.

  1. Send “pamasko” via PayMaya – No more “crisp” money bills this year but this time we’re going hi-tech by using the “Send Money” or “Bank Transfer” feature of PayMaya. Since majority of my inaanaks have a smart phone and most of them already have a PayMaya app on their mobile phones (one of the most-used, must-have apps during these times of the Pandemic, I must say), I only need to tap “Send Money” at the app’s homepage.

First, I will enter the PayMaya mobile number of my Inaanak. It’s better to get the number from the mobile’s phone book so you know that the number is tried and tested. To do this, simply tap the “+” symbol to easily get your recipient’s mobile number.

Second, I will input the amount of my “Aguinaldo.” Then below that, I will add a short and sweet Christmas message. I will finish the transaction by clicking the “continue” button at the top right portion of the screen. The app will then display a confirmation message telling me that the said transaction was successful. I will also receive a text message from PayMaya with the reference number of the transaction.

  1. Send treats via PayMaya – Sometimes if I feel sending gifts in a form of treats/goodies instead of money, then I just go and click the “treats” button (the one with the gift symbol) and there I can choose various treats to choose from load, steam credits, or fast food vouchers. I always choose food vouchers when I feel like giving treats especially to my inaanaks who are foodies. But who doesn’t like food? But apart from food vouchers, you can also send them gaming pins – especially for you gamer inaanaks!

  1. Deliver food. I know some of my Inaanaks prefer food rather than money or gifts. This is also made simple by PayMaya. In my favorite restaurant—Gringo– I can order meals through their website and pay using my PayMaya mobile number. I just tell them my usual order and the address where I want the food to be delivered. Then they will prompt me to enter my PayMaya mobile number and that’s it! The food will be delivered to my Inaanak’s residence, that’s how simple and fast it is!

Apart from Gringo, you can also order from fast food restaurants like Jollibee, Mang Inasal, Burger King, and Red Ribbon, Greenwich, and ChowKing through their FB Messenger and pay using your PayMaya mobile number for added ease and convenience.

And when you use your PayMaya mobile number to pay for your online purchases, you’ll also automatically receive 1%, 10%, or 100% cashback!

And did you know that aside from the convenience these hassle-free options bring, you also stand a chance to win up to P1,000,000 via the PayMayaguinaldo promo? That’s right, every time you #ScanToPay via PayMaya QR, #PayWithYourNumber online, or purchase items at the PayMaya in-app shop, you get to earn a raffle entry that qualifies you to the weekly and grand draw until January 10, 2021!
