Irene & Seulgi Top iTunes PH Charts with ‘Monster,’ MV Release Postponed

“Monster,” the debut single of Red Velvet‘s newly-formed subunit Irene & Seulgi has been released at 6:00pm on Monday, July 6, and it’s already topping iTunes charts worldwide including the Philippines. The release of the music video for “Monster,” however, has been postponed by SM Entertainment and fans are losing their patience. There are speculations that the music company is taking extra precautions as there could be some elements in the music video that could stir controversy and they are avoiding what happened to BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That” last week when it got flak for using a Hindu deity statue. SM Entertainment has not released a statement as of yet.

“Monster,” also the title of Irene & Seulgi‘s debut album, has 5 other tracks namely “Naughty (놀이),” “Diamond,” “Feel Good,” “Jelly,”
and bonus track “Uncover” (Seulgi solo).

While we are waiting for the official music video of “Monster” to be released, check out the concept video and final teaser below (currently trending on YouTube Philippines at no. 12:
