Korean BL Series ‘Where Your Eyes Linger’ Gets Rave Reviews

Finally, South Korea has released a BL series and it’s giving Thai BL series a run for their money! Titled “Where Your Eyes Linger,” the series’ pilot episode is getting praises from critics for it’s unique and engaging storyline which K-dramas are known for.

Produced by Viki Rakuten, the BL series premiered it’s first episode last May 22 on the Viki app. It stars 30-year-old actor Jang Eui Soo (“He is Psychometrist,” “Memorist,” “A Gentleman’s Dignity”) and former Produce X 101 trainee from Fantagio Han Gi Chan.

Here is the official synopsis of “Where Your Eyes Linger”:

Han Tae Joo (Han Gi Chan) is an 18-year-old high school student and is the sole heir of the TB Group – a family-run business conglomerate.

His strict parents keep him under surveillance 24 hours a day, and he feels both bored and oppressed by their reluctance to let him enjoy a little freedom.

His closest friend is also his unofficial bodyguard – another 18-year-old male student named Gang Gook (Jang Eui Su). Gang Gook is something of a tough guy, with a powerful physique and a no-nonsense attitude.

But as the two young men grow older, they come to wonder if there is perhaps another dimension to their friendship.

When an outgoing female student named Hye Mi (Choi Gyu Ri) is transferred to their high school, she inadvertently drives up the romantic tension between the two childhood friends by going on a date with Gang Gook – irking Han Tae Joo, and stirring up long-suppressed emotions.

Will they act on their desires, or will Han Tae Joo and Gang Gook’s friendship remain platonic?

“Where Your Eyes Linger” is a 2020 Viki Original South Korean drama series that was directed by Hwang Da Seul.

From sybth: Let me start by saying I LOVE the name of this drama, it’s perfect. From the moment I read the plot I knew this was going to be one of my favourites and I was right. Only 2 episodes in and it’s amazing. I really love the plot and the characters used to show the chemistry between two 18-year old boys. So far I’m enjoying the fast pace, the ever-changing atmosphere and how the boys story is progressing. It’s a short drama, so every moment and lingering stare is important. Han Gi Chan and Jang Eui Su have done a brilliant job at conveying their characters emotions and the chemistry between the rich heir and his bodyguard. Both Han Gi Chan and Jang Eui Su fit their characters perfectly. The chemistry between Han Tae Joo and Gang Gook is insane. I love their friendly competition and I’m looking forward to seeing how their relationship will develop. The production, cinematography and OST is great and so far the writer and director have done an incredible job with the script and allowing us to understand the boys feelings, to get the most out of a short drama with a great story. I can’t wait for the next episodes, I’m so excited and I highly recommend you watch this brilliant drama. Will update. Reviews have been deleted so I kept this short for now. However I think the less you know the better.

From wjhasselbraun_718: I’ve waited for South Korea to make BL since I’ve started watching dramas. There’s something magical and inimitable about the way Koreans make their dramas that even a small web production like this one can become such an amazing product. The chemistry between the actors is really really good, and as a fan of BL I know sometimes that’s hard to find. I really hope this can be the start of more Korean BL content because my gay self thought I didn’t need more with all the Thai and Taiwanese BL that exists, but now I realize I definitely do. WONDERFUL DRAMA! Fighting!!! #LOVEisLOVE

From walnutsgalore: PROMOTE AND SUPPORT THIS DRAMA. Not only is it lovely, it’s relative and evocative. Support it so we can have more queer Kdrama. There are so few KDramas that are LGBTQ+ friendly. And by so few, I mean none. This one is lovely so far. The script is simplistic and amazing. Showing without telling. Beautiful production and very talented cast. Everyone, please, support this drama. It’s important for us, and for future generations. We need more diversity and gender knowledge in Korean dramas.
