BTS’ V’s ‘Sweet Night’ Tops US iTunes Chart, Boosts Rating of K-Drama ‘Itaewon Class’
BTS visual Kim Taehyung, known for his mononym “V,” captured the top spot of US iTunes chart on March 14 after the release of his solo ballad “Sweet Night” which is a soundtrack of the JTBC K-drama “Itaewon Class.”
“Sweet Night” nudged The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” down to no. 2 and is currently the only K-pop track in the Top 20 in the all-genre category.
Park Seo-Joon, the star of “Itaewon Class” is V’s best friend since they worked together in the period drama “Hwarang.” The two have been very supportive of each other’s careers.
JTBC reported that “Itaewon Class” broke its all-time best viewer ratings with the release of “Sweet Night.”
This is what “V” had to say about the show and his participation in the OST:
“I first knew about ITAEWON CLASS through the webtoon years ago, and I remember having fun reading it while also learning valuable lessons. In particular, I really liked the character, Park Sae Roy, who left a deep impression on me, and I was very happy to see one of my favorite and close hyung playing this character. I am very thankful to be able to participate in this wonderful drama with my self-composed song. I hope many people will show this song lots of love.”
