‘The General’s Daughter,’ ‘Idol Philippines,’ and ‘World of Dance’ to Air Soon on ABS-CBN

ABS-CBN gave a sneak peak into what the network has to offer in 2019, including the anticipated return of Angel Locsin to primetime with “The General’s Daughter” and the turn of Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez as a judge on “Idol Philippines,” at its “Family is Love Christmas Trade Event” last Tuesday (November 27).

The much-anticipated “The General’s Daughter” features a stellar cast led by Angel Locsin, Albert Martinez, Eula Valdez, Janice de Belen, Tirso Cruz III, and Maricel Soriano. She plays a soldier who will be separated from her family at a young age and then will be used against them by their enemies.

Meanwhile, “Idol Philippines” and “World of Dance Philippines” lead the pack of reality game shows that the network has in store for 2019. Both shows are the local staging of their popular counterparts “American Idol” and “World of Dance.” Winners of “World of Dance Philippines” will even get the chance to audition for the show’s American version. The lineup also includes the return of “Minute to Win It: Last Man Standing” and “PBB Otso.”

The Kapamilya network’s new streaming service, iWant, also showcased its offerings such as the

viral “Glorious,” and “Spirits Reawaken.” Beefing up its lineup for 2019 are “High,” “Project Feb 14,” “Story of My Life,” “The End,” “Commuters,” “Touch Screen,” “Find the Wasabi,” “Jhon en Martian” with Arci Muñoz and Pepe Herrera, and “Everybody Loves Baby Wendy” starring Alex Gonzaga.

ABS-CBN Films, comprised of Star Cinema and Black Sheep, also presented their early 2019 line-up. It included “Eerie” starring Charo Santos-Concio and Bea Alonzo; “Heart of Mine” with Richard Gutierrez, JM de Guzman, and Jennylyn Mercado; “Sakaling Maging Tayo,” which is the first movie of McLisse; “Open” featuring JC Santos and Arci Muñoz; the Jodi Sta. Maria-starrer, “Clarita,” and an untitled LizQuen movie to be directed by Antoinette Jadaone.

Afternoon teleseryes will also continue to showcase dramas which will resonate with viewers starting with “Kadenang Ginto” and “Los Bastardos” of Kapamilya Gold.

“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” will continue to give excitement to primetime viewing along with “Halik” and “Ngayon at Kailanman.” Joining the line-up of Primetime Bida are new shows “Mea Culpa” starring Jodi Sta. Maria, and “Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit” with child actress Sophia Reola.
