Smart recently teamed-up with YouTube and Samsung to encourage everyone, especially the youth, to share their talents, passions, and unique story to the world via the Smart Launchpad.
The Philippines is perhaps the country with the most talented people in the world. There are more than a dozen Pinoys already that got invited by Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres to perform in their respective shows. Every year, we always bring home the highest honors in World Championships of Performing Arts dubbed as the “Talent Olympics.” And almost everyday we discover from social media a video of someone with an awesome voice, a terrific dancing ability, a hilarious sense of humor, and a unique skill. Sometimes, even videos that feature plain silliness are getting viral because of their entertainment value.
But not all talented Filipinos have a stable internet connection to show their hidden talents to the world. And most of them don’t have the knowledge in video editing and video production for them to be able to showcase their own talents.
Under the recently-unveiled “Own It” campaign, Smart will help budding content creators and rising social media sensations upload their own work and broadcast it to the world via Upload Stations all over the country. The leader in mobile will also hold several workshops featuring industry experts and Top YouTubers to empower the participants with the tools to channel their creativity.
“We understand that it may not always be easy for the young Filipino to express themselves on a digital platform – there’s always the challenge of having the right equipment and of course, not having access to internet connection strong enough for video uploading.” says Katrina Luna-Abelarde, Head of Wireless Consumer Operations for Smart.
“We want to address these barriers because we have seen many of the world’s digital generation get their start in content creation on the platform, showcasing their talent on video, and sharing their talent with the widest audience available on the web. We want to encourage the Filipino youth to explore this alternative medium not only for self-expression, but also as a way to secure a career for their future,” she added.
Selected malls in key areas nationwide will be chosen as the homes of Launchpad Upload Stations. During weekends, Smart subscribers can hang out, collaborate and create their own videos, and upload in real time using Smart’s fast Internet connection and Samsung devices. Upload Stations will also be deployed in different campuses and hotspots to bring the experience to where the Filipino youth is.
Smart will select the most deserving and the most creative content creators and fly them to LA for a once-in-a-lifetime experience of collaborating with the biggest YouTube Stars. Aside from that, they will also take home awesome Samsung gadgets to take their creativity to the next level.
