Men’s Products All in One Place at Watsons
They say shopping is a woman’s thing. They love to shop for clothes, accessories, grocery items, toiletries, almost everything under the sun. Inside a personal care store for example, you can see a lot of health & beauty products pertaining to women and a significant percentage of shoppers who are women.
But times have thankfully shifted and men are adapting to this wonderful change. Men are no longer embarrassed being seen buying personal care items because more of them are realizing the importance of being presentable (and even attractive) to people they mingle everyday. As a matter of fact, the number of men’s beauty products increased by more than 70% worldwide between 2012 and 2014. And according to a recent survey, Filipino men are among the “most vain men” in the world together with Venezuelans, Mexicans, Americans, Koreans, Brazilians and Australians. These statistics conclude that men nowadays give importance to hygiene and grooming in order to look good and feel better and they are no longer ashamed of using beauty products.
Since men are not heavy shoppers like women, Watsons Philippines dedicated a special area in their stores for men’s products.
“The male shopping behavior is such that they don’t go around the store to explore or shop. They directly go to the area where they can get what they want. They want a quick and easy shopping experience,” explains Karen Fabres, Watsons Group Marketing Manager.
So all grooming and hygiene products for men are in one place so they don’t need to explore the whole store to find the items they deem necessary such as shampoo, deodorant, shaver, shaving cream, aftershave, cologne and hairstyling products.
By putting these products side by side, male shoppers will also be encouraged to step up their grooming-maintenance regimen. For example, if he is using a disposable razor, then he will be inclined to switch to a system razor. Or if he is using soap to wash his face, he can now opt for a facial wash instead and use toners and moisturizers, too, as a wide variety of facial care products specially made for men are now available. And if he usually uses different brands for his hair and body, he might want to try a 2-in-one product to save on cost and shelf space.

We spotted some male celebrities known for their admirable style at Watsons Podium branch on Tuesday, June 7, 2016.
Below are Patrick Sugui, Mikyle Quizon and AJ Dee who easily filled their shopping baskets with the products that they need because these items are located in the special Men’s section of Watsons.
Also spotted in Watsons’ men’s section is popular radio DJ Gino Quillamor who talked about his daily routine on hygiene and grooming.
Gino also pointed out that there’s nothing wrong about men who are vain and who put extra efforts to look neat and appealing.
“With men being called vain I don’t see anything wrong with it. In the same way that you can say women who take care of themselves and we’re all about equality nowadays, so there are things that women should do so why not men can do it also. I wont go as far as putting makeup maybe because its too, masyado siyang matrabaho, but if it makes you feel better about yourself, makes you feel confident, so yeah, I’m ok with men being called vain nowadays,” he said.
Model, actor and blogger Victor Basa described his shopping experience at Watsons as “empowering.”
“It’s very empowering. Di ba usually sa guys when you get into the store ang liit lang ng men’s section but thanks Watsons at least their giving us a place where we can find everything we need with more choices and new products,” he said.
