Circumstances might have broken Tin (Kim Chiu) and Macoy (Xian Lim) apart, but will their love get a second chance once they return to the place where it all began?
The love story of Tin and Macoy finally goes full circle in the last two weeks of “The Story of Us” when the two return to El Nido, Palawan, just as the childhood friends and former lovers attempt to start their lives anew.
After being set free by CJ (Bryan Santos), Tin is ready to pick up the pieces and returns to the Philippines to attend the wedding of her mother Carmi (Aiko Melendez) as her bride’s maid. Even though reluctant, she comes home, together with Myra (Zsa Zsa Padilla) and Caitlyn (Kira Ballinger).
Macoy, on the other hand, faces an enormous obstacle as he tries to woo the residents of El Nido for a project he leads. He has also gotten close to Lucia (Shaina Magdayao), but whether he is ready or not to open his heart to a new love remains a big question.
When their paths inevitably cross, will they be able to rebuild the love they once had before changes in America crushed their relationship?
Since “The Story of Us” began, the series has received mostly positive feedback for its bold storytelling that shed light on issues rarely touched on in the mainstream.
It gave a peek into the difficult experiences of overseas Filipinos who live as undocumented workers or TNT’s (“tago nang tago”), when Macoy sacrificed everything just to be with Tin in America.
The series also showed that life outside the country is not all glitz and glamour and entails sacrifice and perseverance, as Tin and Myra struggled to make ends meet as blue-collar workers.
Throughout the series’ run, praises also kept pouring in for Kim and Xian’s acting skills, as the love team strove to do justice to their roles as individuals and lovers torn apart by their differences.
