‘Heneral Luna’ Hits P180-M, Now PH’s Highest-Grossing Historical Film
“Heneral Luna,” the country’s official entry to the Best Foreign Language Film category of 2016 Oscars, reached P180 million in the box office making it the highest-grossing historical movie of all time.
The official Facebook page of the film revealed its box office performance in four weeks:
1st Week Sept 9-15 P 15,333,299
2nd Week Sept 16-22 P 44,066,423
3rd Week Sept 23-29 P 104,010,219
4th Week Sept 30 P 8,937,640
The breakdown of figures show that Jerrold Tarog masterpiece started slow but because of rave reviews in social media and “word of mouth,” it made a breakthrough on its 2nd and 3rd week.
“Heneral Luna” is now on its fourth week and currently screening in 96 theaters nationwide.
