‘Pastillas Girl’ in Trouble, Gabriela Asks MTRCB to Probe the ‘It’s Showtime’ Segment
Gabriela, the women’s rights activist party, summoned the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to conduct an investigation on the “Nasaan Ka Mr. Pastillas” segment on ABS-CBN’s noontime show “It’s Showtime.”
According to Joan May Salvador, the secretary general of GABRIELA, their office has been receiving complaints from a number of netizens saying that the “pimping” of Pastillas Girl to various interested men on national television borders to exploitation.
Here is the full letter that GABRIELA sent to MTRCB on Monday, September 28, 2015:
Since the party believes that the complaints are valid, the letter was also sent to “It’s Showtime” executive producer Mark Rejanoto so that that noontime show can address the alleged “exploitation of women” issue.
