The Village Coconut Island – A Peaceful Paradise Resort in Phuket
It’s my first time in Phuket and three weeks prior to my flight, I was having a hard time choosing between the Village Coconut Island and two other hotels in the mainland where I will spend my long weekend. My main objective for this vacation is to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city that’s why an island resort is my priority. But I have several concerns with island resorts. Does it have clean water? Does electricity works 24/7? Does it have all the things you need? Furthermore, activities and places to eat are limited to accommodations like this compared to the mainland hotels. Since I really needed a moment of tranquility I chose The Village Coconut Island and it did not disappoint a bit!
If I will describe this resort in two words: Peaceful Paradise. All the modern comforts that one would expect on a five star hotel come together with it. The villas have complete amenities including your very own pool! There’s also an air conditioned gym, spa, tailor, convenience store and several restos. But only one restaurant cater to my taste in food–The Tamarind–which is located on the beachfront. I had one of the best breakfast buffets here and the seafood dishes are amazing!
Let’s talk about all the nice things about The Village Coconut Island one by one, shall we?
THE VILLA
Our villa has a wonderful sea and sunrise view from the master bedroom on the second floor. It has a very spacious wardrobe (with safety deposit box, bathrobes and flat iron inside) and large bathroom complete with bronze pipes, two wash basins and mirror facing each other.
The king size bed is extremely comfortable and it’s facing the glass paneled door that looked out to the deck with two couches, swimming pool and the ocean.
The other room is furnished with twin bed, dressing table and wardrobe, and it has its own wash room and shower. There are plenty of clean towels and necessities like shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, tissue, etc.
On the ground floor, the villa has a full functioning kitchen where you can cook your own food–all the things you need for cooking and dining are here like a stove, microwave oven, refrigerator, utensils, etc. It has a large dining table, a living room with cable TV, and another toilet.
All Grand Beach Front Pool Villas have their own private tropical garden with direct access to the beach, a large infinity edged swimming pool and sunbathing terrace which offer the most unique and exclusive environment. Guests staying longer than one night will have their fridge stocked with a selection of mini bar products including soft drinks, alcohol, and snacks. 3, 4, or 5 bedroom villas are also available.
Aside from the flagship villas, The Village Coconut Island also offers Grand Sea View Villas, Pool Villas and Jacuzzi Suites.
RESORT FACILITIES
The resort has two huge pools. The one on top of the hill has two water slides where I and some other visitors had a great time. I also enjoyed other recreations like playing table tennis, volleyball, billiards, tennis, giant chessboard; and riding a bicycle, kayak, and sailboat which are all free to use, by the way.

The raised central infinity poll offers a spectacular view of the ocean.
There’s also a fully-equipped fitness center in the village which also offers qualified instructors such as yoga and Thai kickboxing.
THE VILLAGE SPA
A destination in itself, the Village Spa offers a comprehensive range of indulgent and holistic treatments with trained therapists that offer a variety of massages ranging from traditional Thai, to Swedish, to tailored Aromatherapy massage. They also offer facials, body wraps, scrubs and a constantly evolving seasonal treatment menu.
Other facilities in The Village Spa include a large Hydrotherapy pool, a Scandinavian Sauna, and a Turkish bath style steam room.
At nighttime you can unwind at the bar by the beach and enjoy listening to the live band. The female singer has a great voice you’ll find yourself requesting for several songs for her to sing. Before you sleep you can watch TV or DVD or listen to music or read a book/magazine or take a quick relaxing dip at your very own private pool or have a massage at the nearby spa.
All in all, I had the best beach vacation ever at the Village Coconut Island. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been to other beaches which boast of pristine sea water and tender white sand but the experience I had at this resort is quite memorable. The personal service we received from the staff at the restaurant, spa, reception, etc. is exceptional. The food at The Tamarind restaurant has always been a gastronomical delight. All the facilities were superb. The transfers from the island to mainland (Royal Phuket Marina) and vice versa via water taxi were also part of the enjoyable experience.
I would highly recommend this island resort to Honeymooners, families big or small, and to those who are looking for a getaway to relax and unwind.
