Scene from Barbers Tales

Barber’s Tales is top-billed by Eugene Domingo in a dramatic role perceived as the best performance of her career. The ‘Diamond Comedy Queen’ portrays the character Marilou, a widow who bravely takes over her husband’s barber shop in spite of the mockery from male townsfolks, and the unexpected support of women, who like her, have long yearned for their own self-liberation.

From a rural life that revolves around patriarchy in every sense, Marilou embraces a journey that will help her break out from the conventions of society and moral dilemmas of the 1970s.

As a lady-barber, Marilou eventually becomes the eye-opener for other women in their town–especially to her close friends, Tessie (Shamaine Buencamino) and Susan (Gladys Reyes)–who also grew up believing that life is basically a man’s world.

Marilou’s goal to become a lady-barber got her in a cobweb of events that eventually changed her ideas about the co-existence of men and women–only proving that gender should never be a hindrances for a woman in fulfilling what she wants in life, in fight for what she believes in, and in gaining respect from society.

Barber’s Tales boasts of a powerhouse cast headed by Eugene Domingo, Eddie Garcia, Nora Aunor (in a cameo role), Iza Calzado, Gladys Reyes, Daniel Fernando, Nonie Buencamino, Shamaine Buencamino, Nicco Manalo, Sue Prado, among others. These acting thespians all in one magnificent opus make this film a real must-see!

Watch out for these:

  • Eddie Garcia in another memorable role after his highly successful lead role in “Bwakaw”
  • Catch Eugene Domingo and Iza Calzado in a controversial kissing scene
  • The Superstar Ms. Nora Aunor appears in a cameo role

Produced by APT Entertainment and Octobertrain Films, “Barber’s Tales” is set to open in Philippine theaters on August 13, 2014.
